Little River Band was formed in Melbourne, Australia and got their name from the Victorian township of Little River. Original members were Glenn Shorrock, Ric Formosa, Beeb Birtles, Graham Goble, Roger McLachlan, and Derek Pellicci.
Their self-titled debut came in 1975, and Little River Band would release albums at the rate of one a year until 1992. While they had success in Australia in the ‘70s, especially with the hit single "Curiosity Killed the Cat." They began touring the United States in 1976. "It's A Long Way There" broke the Top 30. McLachlan would leave the group only to be replaced by George McArdle, while Formosa was replaced by David Briggs.
From 1978 through 1981, Little River Band would see six straight Top 10 hits: "Reminiscing", "Lady", "Lonesome Loser", "Cool Change", "The Night Owls" and "Take It Easy On Me." They went on to sell more than 20 million records and saw 13 hits in the Top 40.
Today, the Little River Band is considered to be one of Australia's most significant bands. Their classic lineup was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame at the 18th Annual ARIA Music Awards of 2004. Little River Band performs an average of 100 shows a year in the Unites States.
