Lee Ann Womack was born August 19, 1966 in Jacksonville, Texas. She got her big break in 2000 with the crossover hit "I Hope You Dance." Lee Ann Womack released her self-titled debut in 1997. Her music was very much like LeAnn Rimes, Faith Hill, and Shania Twain in that they all focus on a more neotraditional country music sound.

Her second album, Some Things I Know, featured three singles. I Hope You Dance was released in 2000, which contained the single of the same name. "I Hope You Dance" hit No. 1 on both the US Country charts and the US Adult Contemporary charts.

Something Worth Leaving Behind was released in 2002; her recent release, 2005's There's More Where That Came From features the single "I May Hate Myself In The Morning." That single earned Lee Ann Womack a Country Music Award for Single of the Year, and the album earned her a CMA for Album of the Year. Her duet "Good News, Bad News" with George Strait won her a Musical Event of the Year CMA.

Lee Ann Womack went on tour in 2006 to support her upcoming album Finding My Way Back Home.
