Kirk Franklin Information

Kirk Franklin began his music career when he released his debut, Kirk Franklin & Family, in 1993. In addition to a solo career, Kirk Franklin has also been a part of gospel choirs including Kirk Franklin & the Family, Kirk Franklin's Nu Nation, and God's Property.

He has also collaborated with the likes of Tonex, Donnie McClurkin, Crystal Lewis, and Willie Neal Johnson. Kirk Franklin's first release, Kirk Franklin & the Family, went platinum in 1993; Kirk Franklin & the Family Christmas went gold in 1995; and 1996's Whatcha Lookin' 4 went platinum. Both God's Property in 1997 and The Nu Nation Project in 1998 were multi platinum. The Rebirth of Kirk Franklin in 2002 went platinum, and Hero went gold in 2005.

From 1996 until 1998, Kirk Franklin won Grammy Awards for Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album (Whatcha Lookin' 4), Best Gospel Album By Choir or Chorus (God's Property), and Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album (The Nu Nation Project).
