Stand-up comedian Kathy Griffin was born November 4, 1961 but first saw success in the early '90s. In addition to her work on-stage as a comedian, Kathy Griffin has also been a red carpet commentator, a voice actor, and appeared in various television shows and movies. She considers herself to be a "D-list celebrity."

Born and raised in Oak Park, Illinois, Kathy Griffin eventually moved to California and began performing at the Los Angeles inprov comedy club the Groundings. Her first movie role was in The Unborn in 1991. Other television appearances included Medusa: Dare to be Truthful and Shakes the Clown, both in 1992.

In 1996, after her HBO Half Hour Comedy Special, Kathy Griffin starred on the NBC sitcom Suddenly Susan. Kathy Griffin: A Hot Cup of Talk debuted on HBO in 1998. More and more television and comedy appearances later, and Kathy Griffin had already made a name for herself with her fans. Her 2005 reality show Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List featured her and her husband, Matthew Modine. The second season began in June 2006.
