Kasey Chambers was born June 4, 1976 in Australia. Her family formed the Dead Ringer Band in 1986 and just six years later, the Dead Ringer Band was a full-time job. Bill Chambers wrote many of the band's songs, including Slim Dusty's "Things Just Aren't the Same on Land," which won Song of the Year at the 1992 Country Music Awards.
The band released a number of albums from 1993 until 1998, but would break up in 1998 when the parents separated. Throughout their career, the Dead Ringer Band would earn two ARIA awards and seven Golden Guitars.
Kasey Chambers then decided to become a solo artist. The Captain was released in Australia in 1999 and in the United States in 2000. Kasey Chambers enlisted the help of Buddy and Julie Miller and Bill and Nash Chambers. She would win the ARIA Award for Best Country Album in 1999, and would win Best Female Artist one year later. The Captain would go double platinum in Australia and was on the top 50 Billboard country albums in 2001 in the United States.
Barricades & Brickwalls was released in 2001 and would hit No. 1 on the ARIA charts. The album would eventually sell 7 million copies in Australia, earning Kasey Chambers awards for Album of the Year, Best Female Artist, and Best Country Album at the 2002 ARIA Awards. Wayward Angel was released in 2004 and would debut at No. 1 on the Australian charts. Carnival was released in 2006.
