KT Tunstall Information

Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall was born June 23, 1975 in Edinburgh. She studied at the High School of Dundee, Madras College in St. Andrews, Kent School, Connecticut, and at Royal Holloway. During her 20s she played for bands such as Elia Drew and Tomoko.

Her debut album, Eye to the Telescope, was released in 2004. It hit No. 3 in the UK and No. 33 in Canada. KT Tunstall made her first live appearance on Later with Jools Holland, where she performed "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree." "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" would later become a popular choice for American Idol season 5 eventual runner-up Katharine McPhee, who sang the song twice during her run on the show.

Thanks to the popularity of American Idol, the song hit No. 23 on the Hot 100 chart and became KT Tunstall's first single to hit the Top 30. Since January 2005, Eye to the Telescope has sold more than 2.6 million copies. KT Tunstall tours both the U.S. and the UK.
