Award-winning country singer John Michael Montgomery was born January 20, 1965. Throughout his career, he maintained his name as a romantic balladeer, but his sound retained the tradition of country. His first public performance came with his father's band at the young age of 5. When he turned 17 he became the lead singer of his father's band and signed a contract with Atlantic Records in 1991.
His debut album came out in 1992. Life's a Dance hit the Top 5. The 1994 release Kickin' It Up went multi-platinum, and made John Michael Montgomery a star. There were three No. 1 hits off of that release in "I Swear," "Be My Baby Tonight," and "If You've Got Love," and a Top 5 hit in "Rope the Moon." The self-titled 1995 release kept John Michael Montgomery's streak of No. 1 hits going strong when it saw two more singles at No. 1.
One more album later and John Michael Montgomery released a Greatest Hits album in 1997. The adult contemporary cross over Home to You. In 2000, Brand New Me hit No. 2 on the country charts, and his "The Little Girl" duet with Alison Krauss gave him another No. 1 hit to his credit. His most recent release was Letters from Home in 2004.
