Joe Bonamassa was born May 8, 1977 in Utica, New York. His father owned a guitar store, and Joe Bonamassa began playing a short scale Chiquita guitar at the age of 4. His first performance came when he opened for B.B. King at the young age of 12.
While he was at a Fender guitar event on the West Coast when he was 14, he met Berry Oakley, Jr. Together the two of them would form the group Bloodline with Miles Davis' son Erin and Robby Krieger's son Waylon. Their release saw two singles hit the charts.
By 2000, Joe Bonamassa released his first solo album, A New Day Yesterday. After putting together a band, Joe Bonamassa toured in support of that release and would head back in the studios in 2002 to record So It's Like That. In 2003 he released Blues Deluxe, which would reach No. 1 on the Blues charts.
Most recently, Joe Bonamassa released You & Me in 2006. You & Me also hit No. 1 on the Blues charts. Joe Bonamassa and his band spent part of the year touring with B.B. King and Kenny Wayne Sheppard, and continued on their own when the B.B. King tour ended.
