Jamie Cullum was born August 20, 1979 in Essex, England. He is almost completely self-taught on the piano, except for a few lessons. His first album, Jamie Cullum Trio-Heard it All Before, was released in 1999. Only 600 copies of that release were made.
After he graduated from the University of Reading in 2001, Jamie Cullum released his best-selling Pointless Nostalgic in 2002 through Candid Records. He then signed with Universal Music Group for three more releases.
Twentysomething was released in 2003 and went platinum en route to becoming the No. 1 selling studio album by a jazz pianist in the UK. Jamie Cullum released Catching Tales in the UK on September 25, 2005 and in the U.S. two weeks later. The largest crowd Jamie Cullum has ever performed in front of was on Queensday in the Netherlands in front of 180,000 people. Jamie Cullum is anticipated to take 2007 off to write new music.
