Ryan Miller, Adam Gardner, Brian Rosenworcel, and Joe Pisapia make up the Boston band Guster. Beginning at Tufts University in 1991, the band began writing songs in their dorm rooms. They named themselves Gus and booked their first gig. Their independent release, Parachute, came in 1994. When another artist by the name of Gus signed with a record company, the band was forced to change their name, and Guster was it.
Goldfly was released in 1996, their second independently released album. Guster re-released Goldfly in 1998 when they signed on with Sire Records. Lost and Gone Forever was released a year later, and Keeping it Together was released in 2003. Guster has appeared on late night shows, and most recently released Ganging out on the Sun in 2006.
Guster keeps in touch with their fans through the regular updates of their studio and road journals on their website, and often sign autographs after their shows. Most of their albums are sold through word-of-mouth.
