Gregg Allman is a keyboardist, guitarist, singer, and songwriter. As one of the founding members of the Allman Brothers Band, Gregg Allman was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995. Eleven years later, Gregg Allman received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Georgia Music Hall of Fame.

Born December 8, 1947, Gregg Allman began his music career in the mid- to late-'60s. The Allman Brothers Band officially formed with Duane and Dickey Betts, Berry Oakley, Butch Trucks, and Jai Johnny "Jaimoe" Johanson. Gregg Allman quickly joined the band when Duane called him, looking for a singer.

The Allman Brothers Band would go on to sell nine gold and three platinum albums.

While Gregg Allman will always be associated with The Allman Brothers he also has had success as a solo artist. Gregg Allman released his debut Laid Back in 1973. Gregg Allman would tour with his Friends or the Gregg Allman Band. Gregg Allman's biggest hit came in 1986 with "I'm No Angel."

In all, Gregg Allman released nine albums, including a live album in 1974 and an album with Cher in 1977.

Gregg Allman battled with cocaine, heroin, and alcohol but has been sober as of the mid-'90s. He still tours with the Allman Brothers Band every year. Gregg Allman married Stacey Fountain in 2001. Perhaps his most famous marriage was to Cher from 1975 to 1979. Gregg Allman has been married at least six times.
