Godsmack Information

Boston-based alternative metal group Godsmack originally comprised vocalist Sully Erna (a devout Wiccan), guitarist Tony Rambola, bassist Robbie Merrill and drummer Tommy Stewart. Their 1997 debut LP was reissued a year later with new tracks and went gold by 1999. The band joined the Ozzfest tour and scored a few hit singles, "Whatever" and "Keepaway." Within another year the release had sold 3 million copies. A Grammy nomination for "Best Rock Instrumental Performance" for the song "Vampires" brought Godsmack more success.

The band is said to have started off as a tribute band to Alice in Chains. Several of their songs have appeared in video games as while as in the films The Scorpion King, A Man Apart, and Any Given Sunday. Current members include Sully Erna, Robbie Merrill, Tony Rombola, and Shannon Larkin. Their album titled IV was released April 25, 2006; it was their fifth album.
