Foreigner first formed in 1976, and was made up of British musicians Mick Jones and Ian McDonald. Along with Lou Gramm and three other unknown musicians, Foreigner was born. Their 1977 self-titled debut album sold four million copies in the United States. Foreigner remained in the Top 20 for over a year. Hits such as "Feels Like the First Time" and "Cold as Ice" played a big part in the success of the debut. Foreigner's follow up to their debut, Double Vision, sold five million copies. In 1980, two members of Foreigner left to join another band.

Foreigner's appropriately-titled fourth release, 4, hit No.1 on the charts, and both "Urgent" and "Waiting for a Girl Like You" hit No. 1. Foreigner 4 has sold 10 million copies, making it one of the most successful rock albums, and without a doubt Foreigner's biggest album. The next release, a 1982 greatest hits album Records, sold seven million and is often times considered a classic. Foreigner's fifth album spawned a Top 10 hit with "I Want To Know What Love Is." One more album release and Foreigner went on a brief hiatus.

Five years later, Foreigner reunited and followed that up with a revamp of the band's line up and their first studio release years. Mr. Moonlight was released in 1995, and with it another Top 10 hit for Foreigner with the song "Until the End of Time." While the album as a whole failed to return the group to the top of the charts, Foreigner still found success as a touring act. In 1999, Foreigner teamed up with Journey for a summer tour. In the early 21st century, Foreigner managed to release a number of archived collections. Foreigner celebrated their 25th anniversary in 2002. Foreigner continues to tour across the United States and other countries. Foreigner is Jason Bonham, Thom Gimbel, Kelly Hansen, Jeff Jacobs, Mick Jones, and Jeff Pilson.
