The four members of Fall Out Boy first came together in 2000. Drummer Andrew Hurley, vocalist/guitarist Patrick Stump, guitarist Joseph Trohman, and bassist Peter Wentz were all in different bands prior to joining Fall Out Boy. In 2001, the band self-released a demo, which was followed in May 2002 with an LP they split with Project Rocket. Eight months later, Fall Out Boy released Fall Out Boy's Evening Out With Your Girl, another mini-LP. When they signed with Fueled by Ramen, they also received an advance from Island.

The only catch with Island was they had the right to refuse a follow up album, and Fall Out Boy decided to release their full-length debut Take This to Your Grave in 2003, which was followed by 2004's My Heart Will Always Be the B-Side to My Tongue EP. May 2005 saw the band release their most recent album, From Under the Cork Tree. Since then, the band has reached new levels of success. They were part of the Vans Warped Tour in the summer of 2005, won an MTV2 Award, headed out on their first headlining tour in the fall, and a received a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist, among other things. While Fall Out Boy has admittedly gone more mainstream with their most recent album release, they stuck with the tradition of long and somewhat absurd song titles such as "Our Lawyer Made Us Change The Name Of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued."

Following their stint on the Vans Warped Tour and a tour across the United States in late 2005, Fall Out Boy headed overseas before coming back to the States in March 2006 for yet another nationwide tour.
