Don Williams Information

Country music singer Don Williams was born May 27, 1939 in Floyada, Texas. His career began with the folk-pop group Pozo Seco Singers; his solo career began in 1971. Don Williams amassed 17 No. 1 hits throughout his career.

Don Williams began playing guitar, which he learned from his mother, when he was a teenager. During that time, he played with country, rock and folk bands. His first band, the Pozo Seco Singers, formed in 1964. After signing with Columbia Records, Pozo Seco Singers had string of Top 50 hits until late 1966. The group broke up four years later.

During his career as a solo artist, Don Williams saw all but four of his 46 singles hit the Top 10 from 1974 until 1991. Don Williams continues to tour today.
