Dido Armstrong was born on 25th December 1971 in London, England. She enrolled into the London's Guildhall School Of Music when she was six. By age ten, she had become quite proficient at the recorder, violin and piano. After she completed her schooling, Dido became involved in her second passion: books. They had always been a huge part of her family's life.
Her father worked in publishing and Dido soon found work as a literary agent, while still including herself in many musical side-projects. One such side-project was working with Rollo, her brother, in his band known as Faithless. Faithless emerged in 1997 with their debut album Reverence, to which Dido provided backing vocals to a few tracks as well as lead vocals on the song "Flowerstand Man." During her breaks in London from touring with her brother and the band, Dido started making demos for some of her songs. Eventually, these demos caught the attention of music executives at Arista Records and more notably, Clive Davis himself.
Finally, in June of 1999, Dido's debut album No Angel was released. During the making of No Angel, Dido received lots of input from her brother who co-wrote and produced a few of her songs. Since the album's release, Dido's been very busy. She has toured with McLachlan's Lilith Fair, promoted her album on many daytime and late night talk shows, has had her song "Here With Me" become the theme song to the TV program, Roswell, contributed to rapper Eminem's latest album and more recently, has opened for Sting, one of her biggest musical influences, in Los Angeles.
