Dashboard Confessional first got together in 1999, when singer Chris Carrabba worked on a side project for his other band at the time, Further Seems Further. While he intended to make Dashboard Confessional only a one-man band, he brought his friends along on live shows with him so often that he finally decided to let them join him in 2002.

John Lefler, Scott Schoenbeck, and Mike Marsh are the other members of Dashboard Confessional. Violinist Susan Sherouse occasionally performs and records with the band. Dashboard Confessional released their debut album The Swiss Army Romance in 2000, and their follow up The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most was released in 2001. A Mark, a Mission, a Brand, a Scar was released in 2003, and Dusk and Summer was their most recent release, coming in 2006.

Three of Dashboard Confessional's releases have gone gold, but it's really the live shows that get fans into Dashboard Confessional. Known for the intimate atmosphere at their concerts, Carrabba likes it when the audience sings along. It has been said that a Dashboard Confessional concert is an intimate, personal experience.
