Daddy Yankee Information

To his parents, Raymond Ayala was born February 3, 1977, but to the rest of the world Daddy Yankee was born in the early '90s when Ayala began his involvement recording music. Already performing on the streets of San Juan, Daddy Yankee finally found fame as a result of his song "Gasolina," of off his Barrio Fino album in 2001. Even though he was known by that time to raggaeton fans, "Gasolina" introduced him to the Hispanic mainstream fans. Daddy Yankee brought "Gasolina" a hit in Latin America, the United States, and Canada.

In addition to his music, Daddy Yankee has his own clothing line, DY. He also worked with Reebok on his own sporting goods and shoes. He was also the star of Talento de Barrio, which went straight to DVD in 2005. The gist of the film is much like his life; the main character is shown living in the streets of Latin America.
