Born May 3, 1951, Christopher Cross is best known for the singles "Sailing" and "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)" from the movie Arthur. That song won Best Song at the Academy Awards and Best Original Song at the Golden Globes, both in 1981.
Before that, Christopher Cross released his self-titled debut in 1979 and garnered five Grammy Awards for the effort. He and Norah Jones are the only two artists to win Best Record, Best Song, Best Album, and Best New Artist in the same year.
His second album, Another Page, was released in 1982; Every Turn of the World in 1985, Back of My Mind in 1988 and a number of albums in the '90s. His most recent release came in 2002 with The Very Best of Christopher Cross.
It has been said that the Family Guy character Chris Griffin is named after Christopher Cross; Chris Griffin's full name on the show is Christopher Cross Griffin.
