Chris Hillman Information

An early interest in folk later developed into a career playing bluegrass. Although underage he used an alias to perform with a number of bands that played bar gigs. He was recruited as one of the original members of The Byrds in 1965. As the lineup changed he helped develop the Country rock sound. He continued with this musical style in his next few bands including the Flying Burrito Brothers. He continued to work solo and recorded several collaborative albums.

In 1987 he joined singer-guitarist-banjo player Herb Pedersen to form the Desert Rose Band. From 1987 till the end of 1993, they recorded seven albums and had a string of 16 country music hits. In 1991 he joined the other former Byrds members for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
