Chris Botti may be known as a jazz performer, but he in fact originally began on the pop music scene. Born October 12, 1962, Chris Botti began playing the trumpet at the age of 10. He started performing professionally while he was in high school. While in college, he studied under jazz educator David Becker at Indiana University. Soon enough, Chris Botti moved back to New York and worked with saxophonist George Coleman and fellow trumpeter Woody Shaw.
After he was asked to perform with the Paul Simon Band in 1990, Chris Botti finally released his own solo album in 1995. First Wish combined contemporary pop-jazz and rock. Chris Botti scored the 1996 movie Caught, and relased his follow up, Midnight Without You, in 1997.
Two years later and Chris Botti was the featured trumpeter on Sting's "Brand New Day" tour. Night Sessions was released in 2001, and Thousand Kisses Deep was released in 2003. All in all, Chris Botti has released eight albums, with the most recent, To Love Again, in 2005.
Chris Botti has performed with not only Sting, but also Chaka Khan, Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, Dave Koz, Jeff Lorber, Brian Culbertson, and David Tom.
