Carlos Mencia Information

Born seventeenth of eighteen children in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, Ned Arnel Mencia grew up to become the comedian, writer, and actor known as Carlos Mencia.

Raised in East Los Angeles by his aunt and uncle, Carlos Mencia dropped out of college to pursue a career in comedy.

His style intentionally violates rules of what is politically correct touching on topics from race, politics, and religion, to class and society. His catch phrases include "dee dee dee" and calling people with no common sense "retarded."

His early breaks in LA comedy clubs led to appearances on The Arsenio Hall show. Carlos Mencia has done a number of specials on HBO and Comedy Central. He has appeared on Comic Relief, and hosted Loco Slam in 1994, Latino Laugh Festival in 1997, Funny is Funny! in 1998, and Uncensored Comedy: That's Not Funny in 2003. Carlos Mencia has released three comedy DVDs and seven comedy albums.
