Brian Vander Ark Information

Known as the lead singer and principle songwriter for The Verve Pipe, Brian Vander Ark is carving out a name for himself as a soloist. Born in Michigan in 1964, he was playing guitar by age 8. He built his skills playing in Holiday Inn Bars five nights a week. He spent a few years in the Army then played in the bands His Boy Elroy and Johnny with an Eye. In 1992 he and Donny Brown formed The Verve Pipe. The band grew in popularity starting in Detroit. They scored a hit in 1996 with the song "The Freshman."

He has had some small parts in film and theatre. He portrayed the bass player in the band fronted by Mark Wahlberg in Rock Star, and he wrote and performed the song "Colorful" for the film and soundtrack. He has also contributed to the soundtracks of several films, among them Life Or Something Like It and The Avengers. In 2004 he released his 11-song solo debut Resurrection.
