Breaking Benjamin Information

Originally called Plan 9, Breaking Benjamin members include Benjamin Burnley, Aaron Fink, Mark Klepaski, and Chad Szeliga. Formed in Pennsylvania is 1999 the band changed their name in 2000. Aaron Fink and Benjamin Burley had been high school friends. Aaron Fink and Mark Klepaski took a chance joining Breaking Benjamin, leaving Lifer, an alternative metal band that was already signed by a major label and gaining a following. But Breaking Benjamin's strong local following led to discovery and a contract with Disney's Hollywood Records.

The post grunge alternative metal band Breaking Benjamin released their debut album in 2002 entitled Saturate. The first single "Polyamorous" received heavy airplay and brought the band fame. Sometimes compared to Nirvana or Tool, Breaking Benjamin is said to have a heavier sound that focuses on melody.

Several Breaking Benjamin songs have been featured in video games. Two songs from the follow up album We Are Not Alone reached No. 2 on the U.S. mainstream Rock charts: "So Cold" and "Sooner or Later." "Diary of Jane," the first single from the third album hit No. 6 before the album Phobia was even released. Singer Ben Burnley does most of the songwriting. A 2006 tour will support the album.
