When Brad Paisley started topping the country charts in 1999 most people assumed he was a newcomer. However, Brad Paisley learned to play guitar from his grandfather at age eight and was an opening act for singers such as Ricky Skaggs and George Jones by the age of 13. While in junior high, he had performed his own song at rotary club meeting and a country music radio program director heard him. That led to a regular spot on Jamboree USA, the station's popular Saturday night show. While in college studying the music business Brad Paisley met students Frank Rogers and Kelley Lovelace, who would go on to serve as his producer and songwriting partner, respectively.

After an internship, Brad Paisley signed a songwriting contract in 1995 then got attention in Nashville performing in clubs and backing up on demos. Brad Paisley debuted as a singer in 1999. That year his first No.1 hit, "He Didn't Have To Be," brought Brad Paisley and his debut album, Who Needs Pictures, national attention. He made his first appearance at the Grand Ole Opry in May 1999. Less than two years later, after 40 appearances on the show, Brad Paisley was inducted into the Opry Hall of Fame. Brad Paisley won the Country Music Association's Horizon Award and the Academy of Country Music's best new male vocalist trophy in 2000.

His humorous lyrics and ability to relate to the audience have kept a steady diet of Brad Paisley on the country music airwaves. Brad Paisley has generated six No. 1 hits on the country charts and ten of his songs have hit top 40 on the U.S. Hot 100. Several Brad Paisley video spoofs have included a range of celebrity guest appearances including some from his wife, actress Kimberly Williams. He won the CMA Music Video of the Year for "I'm Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin' Song)." Releasing an album every two years, Brad Paisley reached No. 2 on the album chart with Time Well Wasted in 2005.
