Robert Hall Weir was born October 16, 1947 and is best known as a founding member of the Grateful Dead. He began playing guitar when he was 13. Three years later, Bob Weir and one of his friends happened across Jerry Garica, and they began playing music together. Eventually, that band would come to be the Grateful Dead.
Bob Weir played rhythm guitar and did some singing during his time with the Grateful Dead. Many considered Bob Weir to have had the strongest voice of the Grateful Dead, and he was also a source of attracting female fans.
After his time with the Grateful Dead, Bob Weir released his solo album, Ace, in 1972. Bob Weir formed the band Kingfish with friends Matt Kelly and Dave Tobert. In 1995, Bob Weir formed Ratdog Revue, which was eventually shortened to just Ratdog.
Bob Weir and Ratdog have performed over 500 times together, using covers of Bob Dylan, Chuck Berry, and Willie Dixon in conjunction with their own songs.
