Bob Schneider Information

Born in Michigan and raised in Germany, Bob Schneider is the son of an opera singer. He learned guitar and piano when he was very young. He dropped out of college to pursue a career in music. Then he spent years playing in Austin-based bands.

Formerly of Ugly Americans, Joe Rockhead, and The Scabs, Bob Schneider began his solo career while still playing with The Scabs. His former bands have ranged from funk and rap to jam bands to alternative rock. Bob Schneider lives in Austin and plays regularly at the Saxon Pub and Antone's in Austin, Texas. He also tours extensively. Before signing with a label he sold more than 15,000 self-released albums at just one Austin record store.

Initially as a soloist he went under the band name Lonelyland. His music appeared in the films Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Miss Congeniality, and Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood. He also received national attention when he dated actress Sandra Bullock. His most recent release is The Californian from 2006. In 2006 he will open on several dates for the Dixie Chicks. His music is eclectic and he writes a range of styles including, funk, folk, rock and country.
