Country singer Billy Ray Cyrus was born August 25, 1961. Best known for his hit single "Achy Breaky Heart" and his mullet hairstyle, Billy Ray Cyrus originally wanted to play baseball. When he was at Georgetown College on a baseball scholarship, he quit the team to form the band Sly Dog.
When he moved to Los Angeles, he was on his own and was signed to Mercury Records in 1990. Some Gave All featured the single "Achy Breaky Heart," which helped revive the popularity of line dancing. It Won't Be the Last was the follow up to Some Gave All but sales did not even compare. He would go on to release four more albums in the next six years. Billy Ray Cyrus tried his hand at gospel singing with the 2003 release of The Other Side.
Billy Ray Cyrus holds the record for the longest time at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 charts for a debut record with 17 weeks. Including "Achy Breaky Heart" Billy Ray Cyrus has had three No. 1 singles and six Top 10 singles. He also been on television (as the lead role in Doc on the PAX channel in 2001), and was in the stage production of Annie Get Your Gun in 2005. Billy Ray Cyrus also filmed Hannah Montana for the Disney Network in late 2005. The show still runs and has received positive reviews.
