Beck Information

Beck Hansen was born as Beck David Campbell on July 8, 1970. Influenced by the diverse music in Los Angeles, Beck manages to combine oblique, ironic lyrics with post-modern arrangements and a collage of musical styles for some of the most unique sounds to come out of the '90s alternative rock scene.

His debut release, Mellow Gold, came in 1994, but it was a year earlier that Beck had made a name for himself with "Loser." Thanks to that single, Beck signed with Geffen Records, and found himself as a mainstream success thanks to Mellow Gold. The follow up, Odelay, was released in 1996 and went double-platinum on its way to earning two Grammy Awards.

Beck released two more albums in the '90s; Sea Change, released in 2002, was his first of the 2000s and was followed by a world tour. It was his first release to hit the Top 10 in the United States when it reached No. 8. Guero was released in 2005, and debuted at the No. 2 spot on the Billboard charts.

Beck released The Information in October 2006.
