The punk rock band Authority Zero incorporates skate punk and reggae influences. High school friends Bill Marcks, Jason DeVore, and Jeremy Wood started the band in 1994, adding Jim Wilcox on drums. After releasing a successful local EP, Authority Zero released their debut album A Passage In Time in 2002. A blend of genres including punk rock and reggae, with obvious Spanish and Portuguese influences marked the album. With two hits, "One More Minute" and "Over Seasons," Authority Zero found greater popularity. They took part in several tours including the Warped Tour and they opened for Guttermouth and H20.
The 2004 follow up album Andiamo had a similar musical style but had a stronger political message. In 2005 Authority Zero released Rhythm And BooZe and they are working on a new album. According to the band, lead vocalist Jason DeVore is noted for his ability to "write catchy songs in 15 minutes with really sticky hooks."
