Fame seems to run in the Simpson family. Older sister Jessica Simpson is famous for her singing and acting, and younger Simpson sister Ashlee seems to be following in her footsteps. Her first television appearance was in 2001 on Malcolm in the Middle. That was followed up with a number of appearances on 7th Heaven, and other small movie parts. However, Ashlee Simpson would eventually come to realize that music was her first love. After recording "Just Let Me Cry" for the movie Freaky Friday in 2003, Ashlee Simpson signed with Geffen Records. Autobiography, the debut album by Ashlee Simpson, debuted at No. 1 on the charts in July 2004; by September 2004 it was certified triple Platinum. Ashlee Simpson co-wrote every song on the album. The Ashlee Simpson Show featured Ashlee Simpson herself and dealt with plenty of issues she had in her life, including her then-boyfriend singer Ryan Cabrera, and writing, recording, and performing her music. Ashlee Simpson released her follow up album, I Am Me, in October 2005. Two months prior, her movie Undiscovered was released in theaters. I Am Me managed to sell just under a million copies despite debuting at No. 1 with 220,000 copies sold.
