Art Garfunkel Information

Growing up in Queens, New York Art Garfunkel began singing with Paul Simon in sixth grade. In college he sang with The Kingsmen. He and Paul Simon reunited as Simon and Garfunkel in 1963 but their first album wasn't successful and they went separate ways. The next year their producer Tom Wilson took the song "The Sound of Silence", redubbed an electric backing onto it, and released it as a single. It rose to No. 1. The duo got back together and recorded five successful albums before they split up in 1970.

Art Garfunkel never reached the success of his duo but he did have a few solo hits. He also acted in a few movies including Catch-22, Carnal Knowledge and Boxing Helena. In 2003, Garfunkel made his debut as a songwriter. Critics applauded his release Everything Waits to Be Noticed in which he teamed up with singer-songwriters Maia Sharp and Buddy Mondlock.
