Australian band Air Supply was a radio staple in the early '80s when they scored seven consecutive Top 5 singles. While other members have come and gone throughout the years, vocalist duo Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock were the two mainstays of Air Supply.
Air Supply was born in 1976 when Russell and Hitchcock got together and joined with four other band members. In the beginning, Air Supply was only popular in Australia. It wasn't until their second release, Lost in Love that Air Supply was introduced the United States. Soon enough, the release saw three Top 5 singles in the States. A few more releases later, and Air Supply teamed up with former producer Harry Maslin for The Earth Is. That release was followed by The Earth Is World Tour video.
Air Supply released a number of albums in the '90s, including a Greatest Hits Live CD/DVD recording of one of their concerts in Taipei, Taiwan, which would spend 16 weeks on the charts in China.
After more releases in the early 2000s, Air Supply was one of the first bands to be invited to play in Cuba, which they did in July 2005 in front of an audience of over 175,000 people.
In 2006 Air Supply released The Singer and the Song, an acoustic album in preparation of their upcoming studio album Zed. Zed is their first studio release in three years.
