Ace Frehley Band Information

Born and raised in The Bronx as Paul Daniel Frehley, Ace Frehley is the onstage wild man from KISS, also known as Space Ace. Surrounded by a musical family Frehley got his first guitar in 1964 as a Christmas present.

The KISS lead guitarist Frehley was known for his frenetic, atmospheric playing, becoming one of the most admired guitarists in the '70s. The former KISS guitarist is also known for his visual effects while playing, such as the smoke bomb hidden in his guitar pickup, sparks and rockets fired off from his guitar head among others. Frehley also designed the band's unique, double-lightning-bolt logo. As an original member of KISS Frehely stayed with the band from 1973 through 1982 and feuds among the band members followed for years.

After leaving KISS to venture out on his own he formed the Ace Frehley Band, later called Frehley's Comets. Influenced by Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Albert Lee, Buddy Guy, Pete Townshend, and Eric Clapton, Frehley himself has also been a model for many new guitar players. Frehley has dabbled in acting. Frehley battled sobriety issues for many years and is reported to be sober today.
