After working the Honky Tonk circuit in the 1970s Aaron Tippin competed on TNN's "You Can Be A Star" talent contest in 1986, landing a songwriting contract and moving to Nashville. A Nashville nightclub performance led to a record contract in 1990. By 1991 Tippin's single "You've Got to Stand for Something" cracked the Top 10. In 1992, Tippin's single "There Ain't Nothin' Wrong With the Radio" stayed at No. 1 for three weeks.
A marriage to Thea Corontzos in 1995 brought Tippin a business partner and a songwriting partner. Tippin ventured into business starting Tip Top Entertainment and opening hunting supply stores. His No. 1 hit "Kiss This" was co-written with his wife in 2000. Tippin recorded the post 911 patriotic anthem, "Where the Stars and Stripes and the Eagle Fly" in 2001; it peaked at No. 2.
