With their first album ?Fistful of Metal? released in 1983, Anthrax became one of the original speed and thrash metal bands along with Megadeath and Mettalica. With John Bush (vocals), Scott Ian (rhythm guitar, vocals), Joey Vera (bass), Charlie Benante (drums, guitars) and Rob Caggiano (lead guitar) the group has released 17 albums, the most recent of which being 2004?s ?Music of Mass Destruction,? recorded live in Chicago with a bonus DVD. Anthrax was also one of the first Rock N Roll groups to perform a song with a rap group. The 1991 release of a version of Public Enemy?s ?Bring the Noise,? and the subsequent tour with P.E. that followed showed just how much Anthrax was willing to experiment and push the boundaries of Heavy Metal. The band also paid homage to Twisted Sister by covering their song ?Destroyer? for a tribute album. The band received a lot of attention during the anthrax scares of 2001, prompting the band to include information about the biological warfare agent on its website.
