Anaheim
Anaheim is a city in Orange County, south-west California, a part of the greater Los Angeles conurbation to the east of Long Beach. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 328,014. It is a focus city of the Greater Los Angeles Area. Founded by German settlers in 1857 and incorporated on February 10, 1870, Anaheim developed into an industrial center, producing electronics, aircraft parts, and canned fruit. It is the site of Disneyland, a theme park which opened in 1955. Its name is a blend of "Ana", after the nearby Santa Ana River, and "heim", from the German for "home". Previously, the settlement was known as Campo Aleman (Spanish for German Camp). Among the professionals sports teams located in Anaheim are: Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (NHL), Anaheim Angels (MLB), Anaheim Storm (NLL), The NFL's Los Angeles Rams played in Anaheim from 1979 through 1994 before moving to their current home of St. Louis.
