The newest Disney stage production Tarzan comes to life on stage in 2006. When Tarzan swings into the Richard Rodgers Theatre on Broadway it will be the Broadway debut for seven-time Grammy and Oscar winner Phil Collins.

A ship wreck strands an orphan in the wilds of Africa and Tarzan's adventure begins, even before the babe is aware he is living an unusual life for a human. A gorilla tribe protects Tarzan and raises him as one of their own. But a chance meeting with Jane, a beautiful human interloper on the island, leads Tarzan to question himself and his role in the world. Handsome Josh Strickland stars as Tarzan and Jean Gambatese brings Jane's human eccentricities to the stage for Tarzan.

Tarzan is created for stage with a book by David Henry Hwang and songs by Phil Collins. It is based on the animated film and the Edgar Rice Burroughs novel. Phil Collins has written the lyrics and music, transforming his music into a theatrical score for Disney's film. Tarzan will feature live versions of "You'll Be In My Heart," which won the 2000 Academy Award for Song of the Year and spent 10 weeks as No. 1 on the Billboard adult contemporary chart. Tarzan is running in previews through its official opening May 10, 2006.
