Sam Mendes, the man behind the ultra-successful revival of Cabaret, led the 2004 revival of Gypsy. The musical, which debuted in 1959, covers the life of the infamous stripper Gypsy Lee Rose. Based on the Arthur Laurents book, Jule Styne's music and Stephen Sondheim's lyrics present all the facets of Gypsy's life, from the excitement of her vaudevillian stage shows to the frustration of dealing with her overbearing mother. Several stage icons have played the role of Gypsy Lee Rose over the years, including Ethel Merman, Murder She Wrote's Angela Lansbury, Tyne Daly, Rosalind Russell, and most recently Bernadette Peters.

Gypsy tickets bring you to one of the best musicals ever. Gypsy provides lyrics that not only move the action forward but are in themselves exquisitely crafted character builders. And there is plenty of character in Gypsy Rose Lee, from whose memoir Arthur Laurent fashioned his own version of hers and her sister June's youth on the dying vaudeville circuit.

Famous songs such as "Everything's Coming Up Roses" and "Let Me Entertain You" were born out of Gypsy. This is a musical that has been turned into a film and endured the test of time.
